Biochemistry is the branch of science that is dedicated to the study of the chemical relations of organisms. It is a mixing of the chemistry and physiology sciences. Some of the organisms of frequent study are microorganisms, plants, and animals. They have active chemical compounds within that allow them to sustain life. Cells that are highly subject to producing chemical reactions are studied in order to perform an analysis, that aims at the goal of finding, how these relationships affect the life of the organism. In the study of biochemistry, scientists study how substances are combined and broken down within the organism in order to decipher what level of importance they serve in being a part of the organism. Some of the substances that are studied are carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, minerals, and hormones. One of the areas of particular study within the realm of biochemistry is metabolism. Scientists are looking to the ways in which the chemical reactions of substances are stored and used by the body in order to influence a certain level of energy. The high energy compound, adenosine triphosphate, in the body in an attempt to store additional large sums of energy, to prepare for those instances in which the body is calling for an energy source that has not been given to the body when needed. When the body needs this energy source, a chemical reaction takes place in the organism, and the adenosine triphosphate is released in a liquid acid or alcohol form. There is a common that happens within organism which takes place along with the assistance of adenosine triphosphate. This process is called oxidative phosphorylation. In oxidative phosphorylation, the organism takes full advantage of its exposure to oxygen. This is the process of biochemistry in which the organism will use the oxygen in order to break down food substances to carbon dioxide and water, for the organism to use if need be.

Scientific research is a common method that is used within the field of science in order to gather information. In addition to gathering data, scientific research is often executed in order to solve a problem. Depending on the division of science to which the scientific research is being carried out, will decide upon which form of reasoning is used in order to draw conclusions. Some studies of science will call for the scientific research to be gathered on the basis of observation. When this method is executed, the researcher will record what is found on the basis of his or her senses. Another method by which scientific research data is collected is through experiment. An experiment may be conducted in science in order to formulate a theory based on the results of the activity. On the other hand, experimentation is a vehicle that is carried out in the collection of science data in order to prove an existing theory, called a hypothesis, to which holds as the premise for the study being performed to begin with. There are also many instances in scientific research in which both observation and experimentation are combined in order to solve a problem.

A chemist studies matter in order to decipher the changes that occur in the body. One of the particulars that a chemist studies is the structure of matter. If a chemist knows how matter is structured, they are able to use this information to carry out further studies of the chemical processes that occur within the body. A chemist studies the composition and properties of matter in order to detect how chemical reactions occur. A chemist is also highly interested in the behavior of matter in order to gain further knowledge as to how chemical substances change over time.
